We went on a romantic getaway a week ago and made a quick gastronomic stop at la Table de Maxime.
On the other side of Belgium, I mean.. on the other side for me (!) as I’m living in Flanders, there is la Wallonie, which is the « french » side of Belgium. I’ve always wanted to visit Dinant, which is a small cute town in Wallonie built on the border of the river and also where the famous Belgian beer, Leffe, was created (yes I had to talk about it, it’s like one of the most important things about this small city). So one day, while visiting Dinant, we though about spending a night in the hotel « La Table de Maxime » well known for its restaurant supervised by Chef Maxime Collard.
30 minutes away from Dinant, passing trough the green-green forest and by small roads, you arrive in a little-tiny-small village called Our where is located la Table de Maxime.
As soon as you arrive, you are enchanted by the place, the cute house made in grey stones and surprisingly, at the front desk, it’s Maxime himself who is welcoming you and guiding you to your room.
Maxime Collard is a young well-known chef who received a star at the prestigious Guide Michelin (the Bible for the restaurants) and give all his attention to creating an innovative and tasteful cuisine by selecting the best products of the season.
Before talking about the wonderful dinner time we had, we first headed to our room decorated in a very charming way where you can enjoy the silence and the beauty of the country side.
The best part comes when it’s dinner time. We wanted to try Maxime’s cuisine by having a five meal dinner with his wine selection. From the starter to the desert, your palate is living a dream. Menu is changed every season, every little details is though and re-though with real cleverness. The tastes are perfectly well combined and the only thing you can do during this delicious time is to savor.
As I fully wanted to enjoy this gastronomic time, I didn’t take any pictures, so pardon me, but pictures below come from La Table de Maxime’s website, but trust me, in reality it looks exactly the same but with more taste.
If you visit this part of Belgium, or even if you do not visit this part, take the road to La Table de Maxime and enjoy the delicate and tasteful cuisine of Maxime Collard.
